UPDATE: Police Identify Passengers Killed In Jones Bridge Road Crash

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. New Year's Day outside the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.

Update, Jan 2., 10:46 a.m.: Eighteen-year-old Kaitlin Marie Gallagher and 20-year-old Nicholas Scott Clayton were killed when the Chevrolet Trail Blazer they were riding in crashed into a tree in the early morning hours of Jan. 1, Montgomery County police said in a statement Tuesday.

Clayton was riding in the front passenger seat of the Trail Blazer and Gallagher was seated behind him in the right rear passenger seat.

Police weren't able to determine the addresses of either Gallagher or Clayton.

The driver, Roderick Eugene Brice II, 22, of the 12900 block of Clarks Crossing Drive in Clarksburg, was transported to Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in serious condition.

The other two passengers in the car, Conor John Hayes, 18, of the 5800 block of Nicholson Lane in Rockville, and Kevin Seiji Russel, 19, of the 4700 block of Willard Avenue in Chevy Chase, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said all three injured men were wearing seat belts. It remains unclear whether or not the young man and teen killed were wearing seat belts.

Montgomery County police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435.

Update, Jan. 1, 12 p.m.: Montgomery County police said the vehicle involved in an early morning deadly crash in Bethesda was a 2007 Chevrolet Trail Blazer with District of Columbia temporary tags.

Police said the Trail Blazer veered off Jones Bridge Road as it was approaching Lancaster Drive, traveled over a sidewalk, struck a fence and finally, a tree. It's not yet known why the vehicle left the roadway.

Four men and one woman were traveling in the car, police said. The front seat passenger, a male, and the right rear passenger, a woman, both died at the scene. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in serious condition.

The other two passengers, 18 and 19, were taken to Suburban Hospital with non-life-threatening-injuries, police said.

Police have not yet released the identities of the two victims that were killed.

Original post, Jan. 1, 9 a.m.: A man and a woman were killed and three others injured early Sunday when their vehicle careened off of Jones Bridge Road in Bethesda, WTOP reports.

The white SUV reportedly crashed through a fence around 3 a.m. at Bethesda's before coming to rest against a tree.

A police spokesman told the station that a young man in the front passenger seat and a young woman in the back seat were both killed.

The driver was transported by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The other two victims were taken to Suburban Hospital.

The names of the vehicle occupants have not yet been released.
