Two Pedestrians Struck, Killed on Rockville Pike Early Sunday

Two Silver Spring residents dead after early morning collision.

Update, 1:30p.m.: Montgomery County police have identified the pedestrians struck and killed on Rockville Pike early Sunday morning as Adam Joseph Hosinski, 26, of the 15100 block of Snowden Drive in Silver Spring, and Rory Joseph Weichbrod, 26, of the 100 block of Lexington Drive in Silver Spring.

Police also identified the driver as Alejandro Roman, 25, of the 1600 block of Gruenther Avenue in Rockville.

Hosinski died on the scene of the accident, police said, and Weichbrod died after he was transported to Suburban Hospital.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the accident site at Rockville Pike and Marinelli Road in North Bethesda around 3:19a.m. Police said they found the two injured victims in the road.

Police said the men were struck by a black 2010 Acura TSX that Roman was driving north on Rockville Pike. Roman stopped and got out of the car, apparently to check on the victims, police said. Then, he got back into the car and drove to the next intersection at Old Georgetown Road, where he turned right, parked the car, and walked back to the accident scene.

Investigators developed probable cause that Roman had been drinking and arrested him, according to a police statement. He was given a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content. Charges are pending, according to police.

Original post: Two men were killed early Sunday morning as they attempted to cross Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Police.

The men, who police say were about 26 years old, were struck by a car near Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Road around 3a.m..  They are believed to be Silver Spring residents. No information was immediately available on the driver of the vehicle that struck the men. Police are still investigating.
