Vehicle Fire on I-270

While the fire has been extinguished, two southbound lanes are blocked.

A vehicle fire was extinguished by Montgomery County Fire/Rescue on southbound I-270 at the Rockledge Drive spur, according to a Maryland State Police spokesman.

A vehicle pulled off onto the shoulder due to mechanical problems, police said. The vehicle then caught on fire. A tow truck is en route, police said.

WTOP is reporting that the two right southbound lanes are blocked.
