Duncan Says He's 'Exploring Things' for 2014

Focus for now is Delaney's congressional bid, former county executive says.

Douglas M. Duncan said Tuesday nothing has changed as he contemplates his political future.

“I’m looking at all my options,” Duncan said in a telephone interview.

His comments followed a report that he is narrowing his focus on .

“I’m not running for governor, not running for Congress,” Duncan, the county executive from 1995 through 2007, told Rockville Patch.

Duncan said he’s not particularly focused on the , but is “exploring things” to see “where I’d be the best fit.”

He said he has not conducted any polling, nor does he have any immediate plans to do so.

“I’m going to a lot of events, talking to a lot of people,” said Duncan, who has remained a visible presence around the county since abandoning a campaign for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2006.

Duncan said he attended a fundraiser on Monday at for , a Gaithersburg-based nonprofit that offers developmentally disabled people hands-on training for jobs in baking.

Duncan is chairman of John Delaney’s campaign for the 6th District Congressional seat. As such, Duncan has been and organizing events for the Democratic nominee.

“For me, that’s the most important thing—to get him elected,” Duncan said.

He also is chairman of the Suburban Maryland Transportation Alliance and has a consulting business in which he is involved in redevelopment and technology projects.

Duncan should run for President of El Salvador. He has done enough damage in Montgomery County.

Duncan? Please, never again. The developers love him more than Ike!

Developer friend Duncan as our State Comptroller? God save Maryland from that scourge. Duncan ran Montgomery County into the ground with his over-the-top spending and big buck gifts to his developer buddies - in the most favorable economic climate ever he didn't do squat for the public. The ICC boondoggle was a gift to the Konterra development in PG - the Konterra developers ended up being the biggest contributor to Duncan's good Republican friend Ehrlich. At the same time our tax dollars were going for concrete, Doug Duncan cut the only public transit BRT line in Montgomery, the BRT that ran down 270. He also cut funding for mental health programs. If I think about it some more, I can probably put out a few more examples of how his priorities were all for the big guys, nothing for the citizens who were conned into voting for him. Forget Duncan - he's been eating at the developer table for too long to be trustworthy. No second act for Duncan.
