Here are the top seven reasons—and a few less-common ones, too—for why people called the countywide call center from Bethesda and Chevy Chase during the first week of October.

Montgomery County's 311 call center fields a wide variety of requests from across the county every day. 

Here are the top seven requests made through the 311 call center from Bethesda ZIP codes between Thursday, Oct. 3, and Wednesday, Oct. 9, according to the call center's office of public information:

7.) Requests for scrap metal pickup: 20 calls.
6.) Requests to discuss property tax bill: 23 calls.
4.) Name and telephone number of Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services building inspector: 28 calls.
4.) Requests for a 22-gallon bin (for recycling bottles, cans and jars): 28 calls.
3.) Ride On real time arrival information: 38 calls.
2.) Requests for bulk trash pickup: 39 calls.
1.) Requests to schedule a building construction-related permitting inspection with the department of permitting services: 41 calls.

And, here are the top seven requests made from the Chevy Chase ZIP code for that time:

7.) Calls regarding traffic signal timing and other issues: five calls.
6.) Requests for bulk trash pickup: six calls.
5.) Ride On real time arrival information: seven calls.
4.) Requests to discuss property tax bill: eight calls.
2.) Request to schedule a building construction-related permitting inspection with the department of permitting services: nine calls.
2.) Requests for a 22-gallon bin (for recycling bottles, cans and jars): nine calls.
1.) Requests for information about residential trash and recycling: 22 calls.

Other reasons for calling 311 from Bethesda and Chevy Chase between Oct. 3 and 9:
