Leggett Expected to Kick Off Hospitality Campaign in Bethesda Monday

County-wide push sparked by the 2011 U.S. Open.

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) is expected to kick off a hospitality campaign in downtown Bethesda Monday afternoon.

The new hospitality push was sparked by the 2011 U.S. Open, a high-profile golf championship that will be hosted by Bethesda's next month, according to a county news release.

While Congressional has been at work for the tournament, Montgomery County officials are gearing up for the tourism the event will likely draw to the area. The event will be the first public unveiling of the campaign materials and logo, according to the release.

The press event will kick off at 3p.m. in Veteran's Park, at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues. The campaign launch is planned for 3:30. Leggett is expected to appear along with local tourism officials and members of the hospitality community.

The event will coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week, May 7-15.
