MTA Launches Purple Line Facebook Page

The Maryland Transit Administration has launched a Facebook page focused on the Purple Line, a planned 16-mile light rail that will connect Bethesda and New Carrollton.

The controversial project has in the Bethesda and Chevy Chase communities from some advocates for the along which a portion of the line is set to be built.

The Facebook page, launched by MTA’s community outreach staff, will highlight upcoming meetings and events, maps, information and news articles, according to MTA. The public also is invited to weigh in with their questions and comments.

Dubbed "Maryland Purple Line," the page had 129 "likes" as of Thursday morning.
