Republican Governor Hopeful Stops in Montgomery County

Harford County Executive David Craig announced his 2014 bid for Maryland governor.

Harford County Executive David Craig stopped in Silver Spring Tuesday morning as he launched his campaign for governor with a three-day tour of Maryland this week.

The Harford County Executive joined supporters in front of Corcoran Caterers at 2401 Montgomery St.

Craig, a Republican, said he knows Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) "very well" and has worked with him at the statewide level on issues such as teacher pensions.

"Harford County is one of the 'Big Seven'—just like Montgomery County, even though Montgomery's four times larger than us," Craig said.

Craig has been the Harford County County Executive since 2005. Before that, he was mayor of Havre de Grace for a decade, and spent more than 30 years as an educator and administrator in Harford County Public Schools.
