Road Closure: Cedar Lane to Close Friday Morning in Bethesda

A section of Cedar Lane between Rockville Pike and Elmhirst Parkway in Bethesda will close early Friday.

Just after midnight Friday morning, June 6, the State Highway Administration will close a section of Cedar Lane between MD 355 (Rockville Pike) and Elmhirst Parkway in Bethesda for the summer, according to a news release.

The closure is part of the $13.8 million Bethesda Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) MD 355 intersection reconstruction project at Cedar Lane. This improvement project will add new turn and through lanes, sidewalk and upgraded traffic signals as part of the construction.

“This temporary closure will allow crews to replace underground pipes and install a new traffic signal at Elmhirst Parkway and Cedar Lane,” said Brian Young, district engineer for Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. “We thank drivers and residents for their patience this summer, and to please use the signed detour route.”
