Vote Early to Avoid Tiger Woods Golf Tourney Traffic Jams

Montgomery County is opening nine early voting centers for the gubernatorial primary election.

For registered voters in Montgomery County, the right to vote may also turn into the struggle of being stuck in traffic on June 24.

“We learned last week that the Tiger Woods Quicken Loans Golf Tournament is going to take place the week of June 24,” Public Information Officer for the Montgomery County Board of Elections Marjorie Roher told Patch. “I believe that on the 24th is when the pros are going to be there doing their practice rounds. And of course, that’s election day.”

Roher expressed concern that the event may affect traffic and hinder voters’ ability to get to polling sites.

The Board of Elections is suggesting that voters take advantage of early voting sites that will be open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. from June 12 to June 19. Voting will be the same during this time as it will be on Election Day. Any registered voter will be able to cast a ballot with the same equipment used on Election Day.

Early voting center locations are:

  • Activity Center at Bohrer Park: 506 S. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg
  • Damascus Community Recreation Center: 25520 Oak Drive, Damascus
  • Executive Office Building: 101 Monroe Street, Rockville
  • Germantown Recreation Center: 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown
  • Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center: 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase
  • Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center: 14906 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville
