B-CC, Walt Whitman Rank Highly on U.S. News & World Report List

Two Bethesda-Chevy Chase-area high schools made the list.

Wbaltv.com published a list this week of the 30 best public high schools in Maryland, according to U.S. News & World Report.

"High schools were evaluated on the student-teacher ratio, how 12th graders performed on their AP tests, and how they performed on the subjects of math and reading on their state exit exams," according to wbaltv.com.

Montgomery County didn't fare too badly in the list. The following county high schools made the list of the state's 30 best public high schools—and all were in the top 10:

  • Montgomery Blair High School, Silver Spring: No. 10
  • Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, Bethesda: No. 6
  • Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville: No. 5
  • Thomas S. Wootton High School, Rockville: No. 4
  • Poolesville High School, Poolesville: No. 3
  • Walt Whitman High School, Bethesda: No. 2
  • Winston Churchill High School, Potomac: No. 1
