Climate Change and its Health Consequences

"Climate Change and Its Health Consequences"
Jack Lebowitz, retired professor of Microbiology and NIH staff scientist, will discuss the topic "Climate Change and its Health Consequences," on October 9th at 10:25 at River Road Unitarian Congregation in Bethesda.
Some believe that "global warming" is a misnomer that does not adequately express the consequences of climate change. John Holdren, President Obama’s Scientific Advisor, has said that it should be called “global climatic disruption” instead. Media discussions about climatic disruption have mostly focused on environmental consequences with limited attention paid to the health consequences of climatic disruption events. Lebowitz will talk about increases in infectious diseases resulting from climate changes, the role of climate with regard to waterborne disease; a major case study of Cholera and climate change; and plants and climate warming.
The October 9th program begins in RRUUC's Fireside Room at 10:25 and ends at approximately 11:15. The discussion is part of the ongoing contemporary issues program: "Coffee, Controversy and Conversation." All are welcome and there is no charge for the program. River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation (RRUUC) is located at 6301 River Road, Bethesda, MD The tel.# is 301-229-0400 Website: www.rruuc.org
