Dominance in Dog Training -- An Outdated Approach

Some people believe that to train your dog you must prove to him that you are dominant. This free workshop explains that, while dogs may have been trained this way in the past,  a growing body of science on both how wolves really behave and how dogs learn has led to new, more effective and humane training methods -- whether teaching obedience, preventing behavior issues, or dealing with problems that already exist. Dr. Kathryn Meyer, VMD, a vet who specializes in behavior issues, will shed light on the impact and long-term consequences of old-fashioned "dominance" training. The HSUS, the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior are among the many organizations that have embraced new and humane training.  When you leave this workshop, you will understand why. Please do not bring your dog. Registration information below.
