"Kids First Patriotism"
Robert Dugger, Ph.D., Financial Economist, Managing Partner, Hanover Investment Group
The U.S.’s central economic problem is to grow without incurring more debt. Possible growth areas, IT, scientific advancement, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, medical research, etc., all depend heavily on human capital and education. It has been found that the quality of human capital is most dependent on a child's development between conception and 5 years of age. This leads quickly to a conclusion of the importance of a national policy-- and politics-- focused on kids and families. Rob Dugger will discuss how, with over 160 million Americans for whom children are the highest genetic and occupational priority, a kids-focused economic program is both essential and doable.
The discussion is part of River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation's ongoing program, "Coffee, Controversy and Conversation." Dugger's presentation will be held in the Fireside Room. RRUUC is located at 6301 River Rd., Bethesda, Md., 20817. Website: www.rruuc.org. Tel: 301-229-0400
