School Bus Crash in Bethesda Sends 19 Students to Hospital

A school bus, not belonging to Montgomery County Public Schools, was involved in a crash Wednesday in Bethesda. Twenty people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Nearly 20 children and at least one adult have been hospitalized after a school bus accident in Montgomery County, authorities say.

The accident occurred near the intersection of River Road and Seven Locks Road in Bethesda at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Montgomery County Police. 

The bus involved in the crash does not belong to Montgomery County Public Schools, a school spokesperson told WNEW TV. It is not yet known who the bus belongs to or what school the students on board attend.

Two cars and the school bus were involved in the accident, according to WUSA TV.

Police say 19 middle school-age students boarded a medical ambulance bus and were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. One adult also was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
