Silver Spring Community Opposition Grows to Recommended Site for New B-CC Middle School

Silver Spring Patch reports that the community is opposing a proposal to house the new school at a parks site.

As the Board of Education prepares to hear a on a site for a new Bethesda-Chevy Chase middle school, community opposition is mounting against a site selection committee's proposal for housing the school at the Rosemary Hills–Lyttonsville Local Park in Silver Spring,

The new school is aimed to relieve overcrowing at Westland Middle School in Bethesda, and would also house sixth-graders that currently are educated at elementary schools in Chevy Chase.

Neighbors of the proposed site met last week with public schools officials to voice their concerns, and a community vigil is planned Wednesday evening to protest the recommendation. The community members have formed a group dubbed the "Save Our Park Coalition."
