Bethesda Teen Soccer Player Wins Gold at Maccabiah Games

Morgan Lynn was part of the undefeated U.S. girls' soccer team at the Maccabiah Games this summer.

Two young women from Montgomery County recently won gold at the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.

Rising Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School senior Morgan Lynn, of Bethesda, and recent Winston Churchill High School graduate Zoe Forster, of Potomac, were members of the U.S. girls' soccer team at the games. The team went undefeated, winning matches against girls' soccer teams from Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Canada, South Africa and Israel. The team prevailed twice against Israel—the second time in the final, gold-medal round, Morgan Lynn's mother, Shelah F. Lynn, reported to Patch.

The team consisted of 20 players, according to the team roster.

The young women are not the only young athletes from the region to win gold at the games. Rising Bethesda senior Josh Fried earned a gold medal in the boys' basketball competition, according to a news statement from Maccabi USA, Patch reported.

Maccabi USA is a nonprofit organization "with an extensive history of enriching Jewish lives through athletic, cultural and educational programs," the statement added.

The organization is the official sponsor of the United States's team to the World Maccabiah Games, the Pan American Maccabi Games and the Maccabi competitions in Europe and Australia, and also is a sponsor of the JCC Maccabi Games for teens in North America.
