Today at the U.S. Open: June 17

The championship rounds move into their second day.

Today is the second championship round at the U.S. Open at Gates will be open from 6a.m. to 7p.m. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. from both the first and 10th tees, according to the U.S. Open Spectator's Guide.

The last pairings of the day will begin play at 2:52 p.m. and finish around 7:30 p.m. Check out a list of pairings and tee times here.

As we reported yesterday, passes for Metro shuttles from Grosvenor station have sold out for Friday and Saturday. When we last checked, there were a few hundred left for Sunday. If you’re unable to get Metro shuttle passes but you’re not driving to the event, RideOn or passenger drop-off are other good options.

A high of 85 degrees is expected today with a 40 percent chance of rain and the possibility for scattered afternoon thunderstorms, according to the Weather Channel.

Traffic is expected to begin to continue to be busy today around Congressional as the championship rounds move into their second day. If you’re not heading to the tournament, avoid the following routes if possible:

  • River Road from the Capital Beltway to Falls Road
  • Falls Road from I-270 to Oaklyn Drive
  • Seven Locks Road from River Road to Democracy Boulevard
  • Persimmon Tree Road
  • Bradley Boulevard
  • Persimmon Tree Lane
  • Oaklyn Drive
