Life Along the Redline

Washington Metro’s  Redline increases the outlets of transportation in major parts of Maryland. That is true, but what does it actually connect throughout local communities?

The Speicher Group aiming to facilitate easy access to local favorites and neighborhoods with a series of interactive Redline maps. The first stop in this series is Rockville, Maryland. The stop itself is only a 15 minute drive to Rockville’s namesake, Rock Creek and Rock Creek Park.

Rockville has transformed from an agriculturally centered town into a cosmopolitan hub of Washington, D.C. With this transformation have come several carefully crafted neighborhoods including Luxmanor and King Farm to name a few.

In 1938, The Luxmanor Citizens Association represented nine families and homes in the area. Today it has grown to more than 850 families in the community. A striking combination of old and new, Luxmanor’s oldest “home” is a log cabin built around 1790.

Luxmanor’s private tree-lined streets are filled with colonial style homes and the “Neighbor to Neighbor” program sponsors social events and the annual Garden Tour.

On the other hand there is King Farm, a modern residential community situated in the heart of Rockville. Single family homes, apartments and condominiums build the structure of a tight knit community providing a small town feel in a city only a short distance away from Washington, D.C.

King Farm’s annual Fall Festival is coming up on Oct. 6 celebrating the changing seasons with hayrides, food trucks, pumpkin carving and a business fair.

Check out one of Rockville’s best neighborhoods and communities at the Fall Festival, easily accessed by the Rockville Redline stop only ten minutes away.
