This Saturday 7-20: Help save trees in Rock Creek

"Save the Trees" invasives removal
Rays Meadow (meet by the playground)
Sat, 7/20   9-11 am

Some young trees along the Creek at Ray's Meadow are nearly smothered by invasive plants.    So we're going out to save them.    These trees are particularly important because they help stabilize the Creek bank and protect it from erosion.

Task:    Pulling/cutting invasive vines from  trees near the Creek.
Special Guest:    Steve Peck, MoCo Forest Conservation Inspector, will help us locate the endangered trees, and he's also great at identifying many native and non-native flora in the park.

Please RSVP to tom@smerling.com so I can get a head count.
  • Directions to Ray's Meadow here.     (Park on street, not in synagogue lot.)
  • SSL credits available (bring your forms)
  • We'll can supply tools and gloves, but if you have pruners or hand shears please bring them.
  • Recommended:    Water, lightweight long pants (it's brushy), high socks, sunscreen, hat, insect repellent.

This is a chance to make achieve a concrete, highly-visible improvement to the Creek's forest.

In cooperation with MoCo Weed Warriors and Rock Creek Conservancy.
