Red Line Track Work for Veterans Day Weekend

Buses replace trains for a portion of the Red Line this three-day weekend.

Buses replace trains between the Shady Grove and White Flint stations this weekend, from 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Monday, according to a news release on Metro's website.

There will be normal Metrorail service between the White Flint and Glenmont stations.

The free shuttle buses running between the Shady Grove and White Flint stations will operate on two routes, according to Metro's website:

  • Express buses will run between Shady Grove and White Flint with no intermediate stops. Allow 20 minutes of travel time.
  • Local buses will run between Shady Grove and White Flint with intermediate stops at Rockville and Twinbrook. Allow 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop. For example, a rider traveling from Rockville to White Flint should allow 20 minutes because the bus makes two stops.

The Shady Grove, Rockville and Twinbrook stations will be closed through the weekend (including Veterans Day on Monday).

Work crews will "continue track circuit replacement and improve track infrastructure, including installation of new ties, fasteners, insulators and cover boards," according to Metro's website.
