Lot 31: Behind the Fences, a Busy Site

Here's what the site for the new parking garage—on Elm Street at Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda—looked like on Thursday morning, July 25.

Construction continues on the new parking garage at Lot 31, on Elm Street at Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda.

When completed, the parking garage will have 940 public parking spaces, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Patch reported last year.

According to an update from StonebridgeCarras on the construction of the parking garage—which takes the place of a former surface parking lot—"most of the summer months will be filled with the final excavation of dirt/rock from the site, waterproofing, installation of sub-drainage and concrete."

"Many visitors to the site ask how the trucks now in the hole will get out of the hole. Once there is no possibility of adjusting the ramp for a truck to be removed; only trucks able to be removed by the tower crane will remain in the hole. We anticipate excavation complete in August," StonebridgeCarras' update added.
