Water Main Break Closes Jones Mill Road, Both Directions

WSSC planned to have the road open by early Tuesday morning.

A water main break in the 8900 block of Jones Mill Road, Chevy Chase, kept both directions of the road closed for most of Monday, July 8, according to Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission spokesperson Kira Calm Lewis.

The break occurred sometime before 9 a.m., and WSSC crews were on-site by 9:20 a.m., Lewis said.

Water was expected to be restored by around 5 p.m., but Lewis said the road would be closed for repairs through the Monday evening rush hours. The road was expected to be open again by early Tuesday morning, she added.

Detour signs directed drivers to an alternative route, Lewis said.

The Gazette reported that the main was 16 inches in diameter, and that about 60 customers were affected by the break.
