Local Runners Raise Funds For Veterans

Runners from Fitness Together recently trekked on foot from Gettysburg to Washington, D.C.

Local runners recently trekked on foot from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to Washington, D.C., in order to raise funds for a group that supports wounded veterans.

A team of 12 runners from Fitness Together studios -- lead by Rick Coe, owner of the Bethesda, Rockville and Potomac studios, and  Matt McKinnis, owner of the Fitness together studios in Alexandria, Georgetown and Scott Circle -- ran all day, through the night, and into the next day from Gettysburg's Civil War battlefields to the historic monuments in the District. The effort was a part of the American Odyssey Relay Run Adventure.

The runners raised $4,000 for Team Red, White, and Blue, a group that supports re-integration of wounded veterans returning home from the Middle East.
