Scheduled Delays on Red Line This Weekend

On Columbus Day, trains will operate on a Saturday schedule.

This weekend on the Red Line, trains will operate every 16 minutes (and every 20 minutes late at night) between the Shady Grove and Glenmont stations, and every eight minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. between the Grosvenor and Silver Spring stations, according to Metro's website.

This schedule begins at 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, and finishes at closing time on Sunday.

The delays accommodate scheduled weekend track work. Between the Twinbrook and Grosvenor stations, work crews will improve track infrastructure, by—among other things—installing new wooden ties, fasteners, insulators and cover boards. 

On the Orange Line, buses will replace trains between New Carrollton and Stadium-Armory, but trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule outside that work zone.

Trains on the Blue, Yellow and Green lines will operate at regular weekend intervals, Metro added.

Columbus Day service information:

On Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 14), Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule on all lines with no track work in effect. Also, parking at all Metro-owned lots and garages is free on Columbus Day, Metro's website reported.
