I saw this movie this weekend and I have to say, I was let down. The great story and characterRead More development that was on display from the previous X-Men movie(Matthew Vaughns X-Men 1st Class) is gone and replaced by Bryan Singers typical detached vision of X-Men. The story is basically a transplant of another movie from days past starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which I won't go into since it would be spoiling. On the positive I will say that Evan Peters(American Horror Story) gave a great performance as Quicksilver as well as Peter Dinklage who's facial appearance is dead on lookalike for Dr. Bolivar Trask. There were some good action sequences and also some hints at would be story arcs for the next X-Men sequel which appear to be toying with the most loyal comic book fans of X-Men. If you are a Die Hard fan of X-Men I would say go see it right away. For my money I'd say go see GODZILLA, which i thought was nothing short of a visual spectacle. It was a visual pleasure to watch GODZILLA on the screen. One last thing, if you can find it still, on the indi front, The GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, also a visual spectacle is probably the best movie I have seen this year. Gia Coppola talks about "Palo Alto."
Frank Flynn May 23, 2014 at 10:17 pm
With all of the teenagers who live here in Palo Alto - why are you interviewing a woman who grew upRead More in Los Angles, sometimes Napa, is not a Teen and even this move was shot in LA. To say this story and film has nothing to do with Palo Alto dimities my point that we have right here many teenagers who do have things to say - and this article is one more where their voice is not heard.
Robert McMenomy May 26, 2014 at 06:54 pm
Beau, I was a teenager once, and for sure this has a universal tone and message.

This reviewer looks like they wrote the review by reading other reviews because there really isn'tRead More villain clutter, there is 1 villain thought the bulk of the film, the Rhino is right at the end for just a few moments to setup a comeback, and the Goblin is maybe 5 minutes. The threads all tie together, the problem is actually the relationship chews up way too much time. The physics of it, the cinematography and action sequences are really good, but you don't pay to see spiderman to watch peter and gwen make goo goo eyes at each other for most of the movie.
Leslie Combemale May 4, 2014 at 12:48 pm
goo goo eyes notwithstanding, it's my opinion vs. yours on the villain clutter. I watched the movieRead More and wanted to like it more than I did, I assure you. I said the action was well done, as was the cinematography (as per my reference to photographs) 3 villains is more than we needed.
Leslie Combemale May 4, 2014 at 12:49 pm
ps to Shawn: as you know if you read the comics, his relationship with Gwen is what makes him intoRead More what he becomes as he gets older. so it's kind of important...
