The neighboring Friendship Heights storefronts that used to house Tynan Coffee and Tea and clothing boutique Adolfo Dominguez are both vacant, leaving the south side of the Wisconsin Place plaza looking a little lifeless.
Friendship Heights is down another business: Tynan Coffee and Tea, which anchored the southern arm of the plaza at The Shops at Wisconsin Place. Now, that part of the plaza seems a little desolate, with all of Tynan's outdoor chairs and tables cleared away, and the tall windows of the corner storefront dark. Your Chevy Chase Patch editor enjoyed sitting at the tables behind the windows, clacking away on the computer while looking up to check on Chevy Chase (and admiring the parade of well-dressed pups passing by). The coffee, tea and sandwich shop was closed by last Friday. A sign hung in the window thanking Tynan customers for three years of patronage, and reminding them of Tynan's two other DC-area locations: at 1400 Irving St. NW, …

The boutique clothing store is closed for renovations, and will likely open next week.
Look in the windows of Adolfo Dominguez on the plaza at The Shops at Wisconsin Place this week, and instead of chic dresses you'll see an empty storefront, and—if the door is open—a work crew renovating the inside of the store. The boutique clothing store has been closed since Monday, March 19, so that repairs can be made to the shop's oak floor, "which was damaged by an unexpected flood just before Christmas," according to the store's Facebook page. "Once the work has been done, we will celebrate the renovation of the floor and welcome the new season's clothes with a fabulous party," the store's Facebook page continues. The renovations are likely to take two weeks, according to a sign posted in the store's window, which reads, "Temporary …

The Five-Things-for-Friday edition for which we've all been waiting.
Good morning, Chevy Chase! It's finally Friday, and here are the five things to know today: 1.) Summer weather continues today as temperatures reach into the mid-80s by the afternoon, and the humidity continues to hang about. The afternoon brings a chance of more severe thunderstorms, so be sure to bring an umbrella with you (unless you're one of those lucky office dwellers who gets out early on the Friday before a three day weekend). 2.) Today is Don't Fry Day, so join in the fun and wear some sunscreen. Try to stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun's rays are the strongest, the Environmental Protection Agency warns. 3.) With Memorial Day on Monday, the Montgomery County Division of Solid Waste Services is shifting …
