Bethesda Apple Stores Compete For Corporate Love

What an anonymous tipster had to say about employee ranking at the stores.

Recent Washington City Paper and Gizmodo articles claim the DMV’s beloved Apple stores are less a family of loving technology geniuses than one of mercenary techies, where to work at Montgomery Mall is apparently to be exiled to a desert of shame. The City Paper based its account off an anonymous ex-employee's email to Gizmodo, revealing “DMV Apple stores are like a high-tech Glengarry Glen Ross, with a bit of Man in the Iron Mask thrown in." According to the articles, the Georgetown store reigns supreme, constantly shattering business records. The Bethesda store, a “bitter rival” of Georgetown, comes in close behind, losing business to its DC sister store. Meanwhile, the Montgomery Mall store ranks somewhere closer to the redheaded …

Techies Crowd Bethesda Row as iPhone 5 Hits Apple Stores

Line stretches down the block in front of the Bethesda Row Apple Store Friday morning.

If you wanted to snag a new iPhone today, you had to wait in line -- a long line. Apple released its new iPhone 5 Friday, and techies waited in line to be the first to get their hands on the much-anticipated smartphone. At Bethesda Row, the line stretched down the block, nearly to Arlington Road. The good news? Apple provided free Dunkin Donuts coffee for the eager shoppers. If you're wondering where to buy one, check out our handy guide. There are only two Apple stores in Montgomery County -- both in Bethesda -- but plenty of other retailers are carrying the iPhone today. Did you buy an iPhone 5 today? How long did you wait in line? What do you think of the new smartphone? Tell us in the comments.

Where to Buy the iPhone 5 in Bethesda

Latest high-tech advancement coming Sept. 21.

The next generation iPhone is coming out later this month, Apple announced Wednesday, and there are at least two places in Bethesda to buy it. The iPhone 5 officially goes on sale Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. Not all stores may not stock the iPhone 5 immediately. However, the Apple Store at Bethesda Row will have the smartphone in stock beginning Sept. 21. How many will be available is still unclear. The Montgomery Mall Apple store also is expecting to have the iPhone 5 beginning next Friday, but an employee there wasn’t sure whether they would be immediately available. A list of other Bethesda-area retailers that sell iPhones is available online. Your best bet may be to pre-order the new iPhone. Pre-order begins at 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, on the …

Flaws in Apple's Techno Marvels

Is the new Apple iPhone 4S all it's cracked up to be?

That Apple Store on Bethesda Row always appears to be jam-packed with customers—or gawkers—checking out the latest technological marvel.  That's especially true these days, with the new Apple iPhone 4S and the new iPad both hitting the market. Two dozen or so people were lined up outside the store early Friday morning, March 16, the day the iPad was to be released.  But all these new gizmos can be more than slightly overwhelming for those of us still struggling with the intricacies of email.  Whether it's the circular and exasperating answering machines run by many 'public service' companies (like Verizon or Pepco), completely inaccurate driving instructions offered in various global positioning systems in cars or the barrage of useless …

When I see the Apple store in Bethesda I can't help remember how morally devoid at least 3 of their employees were a year ago when they heard Jayna Murray being beaten to death with 330 seperate strikes, begging for her life; and they didn't even call the police.   more ›
