Benny Fischer promises big portions and reasonable prices when he opens Benny’s Bar and Grill later this year. The new restaurant will soon start renovating the former Popeye's space of the Cabin John Shopping Center, giving it a 1940s retro makeover and an 1800-square-foot addition to allow for seating for 200 or more guests, according to Fischer. The restaurant will honor Fischer’s late grandfather, Benny Bortnick, a presence in the DC wrestling scene in the 1940s. The casual, sit-down eatery will culminate 30 years of experience in the restaurant and food service industries, Fischer said.
