Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club Seeks to Hit the Right Notes

Operators hope combining an intimate entertainment experience with quality food and parking will make the club a destination for a wide variety of music fans.

Tuesday morning, members of the media got a sneak peek of the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, the music venue that will open March 1 in the former Bethesda Theatre space on Wisconsin Avenue. Operators said they hope to “hit all the notes” with the highly-anticipated club—with parking, acoustics, food, service, ambiance and entertainment. The theater opened in 1938 as an art deco movie house, and was re-incarnated as an Off-Broadway production hub before a flood forced it to go dark in the middle of a run. The nonprofit that operated the theater, the Bethesda Cultural Alliance, partnered with Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment to produce several shows there. But in 2008, the theater suffered a financial…

Very cool and congrats. Wisconsin has a strong tradition, history and current culture of supper clubs with the trifecta of dining dancing and drinking so being on the avenue is a good talisman.   more ›
