It's Thursday, which means it's almost Friday...but before we get to Friday, here are five things to know today, Thursday, May 19.

Good morning, Chevy Chase! Here are five things of interest to Chevy Chase this morning: 1.) Today's weather will be more of the same sort of weather we've been experiencing this week. (No need to belabor those details here, but do note that we should be getting some clearing of the clouds by the weekend.) 2.) Nordstrom Rack opens today at 5333 Wisconsin Ave. In celebration of the opening, the first 1,000 customers will receive a complimentary Nordstrom Rack reusable tote as a gift with their purchase. Neighborhood Bike Day Combines Fun and Safety

Chevy Chase residents brave cloudy weather to come out and play and learn about bike safety.

Gray skies and threatening clouds were not enough to keep residents away from the second annual Chevy Chase Bike Day on Sunday. The event was held at Chevy Chase Elementary School, and included a bike repair station courtesy of Griffin Cycle, a bike donation drop off by Bikes for the World and a bike safety course set up by the Washington Area Bicyclist Association complete with cones to encourage safe maneuvering around corners and sidewalks. “It brings together families and encourages bike use,” said Town of Chevy Chase Mayor David Lublin. “People seem to have a good time.” In one corner of the blacktop, Chevy Chase resident Deborah Litt joined in the fun by trying her hand at creating a smoothie by riding a bike three laps around the …
