Check Out the Best “Decked” Homes in Maryland

Vote and help a Maryland school district win $100,000.

A Maryland school district has the chance to win $100,000 if a home in its community wins our national Deck the House contest. According to users who voted, three homes—in Columbia, Bel Air and Glen Burnie—made it as finalists for their holiday light decorations.  But now it's up to you to narrow the list down from our 25 finalists to the best decorated home in America. Until Dec. 28, vote for your favorite and that person could win $100,000 for his or her local school district. All you have to do is visit this page to browse a gallery of the finalists and cast your vote. On Dec. 29, we’ll announce the grand prize winner of our Deck the House contest. Enter Patch's “Deck the House” Contest for a Chance to Win $100,000

Did you decorate your house for the holidays this year? Enter our "Deck the House" contest and you could win $100,000 for your local school district and $500 to pay your electric bills!

  We’re launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page from Nov. 26 to Dec. 16. (Check back here next Monday for a direct link to our contest page so you can enter.) Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from them, pick one grand prize winner. Chevy Chase Woman Selected as Semi-Finalist in National Recipe Contest

Her “Israeli Salad with Tahini Lemon Dressing" named one of Top 5 Appetizers.

  Chevy Chase resident Aviva Goldfarb has been selected as a semi-finalist in a national “Your Best Recipe” contest, sponsored by Eggland's Best. Goldfarb’s recipe, titled “Israeli Salad with Tahini Lemon Dressing,” was named one of the five best out of thousands of entries in the competition’s “appetizer” category. You can support your fellow Chevy Chaser by voting for Goldfarb’s recipe on the contest website until Sept. 30, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. On-line votes will account for a percentage of the final score, with contest judges Chef Candice Kumai and dietician Elizabeth Ward voting on the remainder. Best Mom In Montgomery County: Nneka St. Gerard

We announce the winner of our Mother's Day contest.

  To honor mothers around Montgomery County, Patch asked users to upload photos of their moms and leave a comment about what makes them so great. The heartfelt expressions of love and gratitude made it too hard to choose, so Patch randomly chose a winner. And the winner of our best mom contest is... drumroll, please... Nneka St. Gerard. Editor's note: The "Deck the House" contest is now closed, but beginning Dec. 30, you'll be able to vote for the best decked house across all Patch communities. Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000, no strings attached.
