Four Extricated After Two-Car Beltway Crash

A man was transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries following a collision on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway.

A two-car accident left a man seriously injured and temporarily shut down the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway near the Connecticut Avenue exit Thursday afternoon. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded around 2:46 p.m. and began to clear the scene at 3:18 p.m., said Beth Anne Nesselt, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokeswoman. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue evaluated five patients between the two vehicles, four of whom needed to be extricated, Nesselt said. One man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Nesselt said. This is very dangerous for there to be injuries in an automobile accident and refuse a trip to the hospital to be checked out. Christmas Eve Crash Victim Identified as B-CC Senior

Anthony Benlizar, 17, was among three who died in the Beltway crash.

One of the victims in a fatal Christmas Eve crash on the Capital Beltway was Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School senior Anthony Benlizar, The Gazette reports. Benlizar, 17, of the 1900 block of East West Highway in Silver Spring, and Jasmine A. Fajemisin, 30, of the 1900 block of Rosemary Hills Drive in Silver Spring, both died the night of the crash, according to Trooper Baum of the Maryland State Police. Florentina J. Gonzalez, 72, also of the 1900 block of East West Highway in Silver Spring, died Jan. 1 at Innova Fairfax Hospital, Baum said. The Gazette reports that Gonzalez was Benlizar's grandmother. Police Identify Victims in Friday’s Rockville Pike Crash

A Rockville man was in critical condition at Baltimore Shock Trauma.

  Montgomery County police have identified five people taken to the hospital after a six-vehicle crash on Rockville Pike in Rockville on Friday. A Rockville man suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident, which closed Rockville Pike for nearly seven hours. For reasons still under investigation, a Volkswagen Tiguan traveling southbound in the 1200 block of Rockville Pike near Templeton Place around 10:28 a.m. crossed into northbound lanes, police said in a news release. The Volkswagen struck the driver’s-side mirror of a 2006 Ford F-150 truck that was stopped in a northbound lane of Rockville Pike, according to police. Report: Third Person Dead From Christmas Eve Beltway Crash

Hospitalized 72-year-old woman dies of her injuries, The Gazette reports.

A third person has died from a Christmas Eve car crash on the Capital Beltway, The Gazette reports. The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. near the Connecticut Avenue exit. According to police, a 36-year-old Silver Spring woman lost control of her Chevrolet Malibu, started hydroplaning and struck two other cars. A 17-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman died the night of the crash. The following day, a 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead of her injuries at the hospital, according to The Gazette. UPDATE: Truck Driver Identified in Fatal Rockville Pike Crash

Pickup truck driver, who was killed, crossed the median along Rockville Pike and struck a Metrobus.

Update, Dec. 29, 12:24 p.m.: The driver of a pickup truck that struck a Metrobus near the Rockville Pike and Alta Vista Road Wednesday afternoon has been identified by Montgomery County police. The driver, Nkonou Ayaovi Edorh, 49, of the 14200 block of Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill, was killed. Police said the truck Edorh was driving southbound on Rockville Pike crossed the median and struck the Metrobus, which was traveling in the northbound lanes. Police are still investigating why the truck veered into the northbound lanes. The two vehicles collided, killing Edorh and injuring the bus driver, who police are identifying as Lennitta L Bryant, 41, of the 3300 block of Weeping Willow Court in Aspen Hill. Fire and rescue spokesman: A car rear-ended a small fuel truck in the northbound local lanes.

Update, 2:40 p.m., Sept. 16: The fuel truck involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 270 on Friday afternoon was stopped along the shoulder of the northbound local lanes, a Maryland State Police spokesman said. The driver of the car that rear-ended the truck was killed. He has been identified only as an African-American man, said Sgt. Mark Cummings, a Maryland State Police spokesman. The driver of the fuel truck was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation but did not appear to have any major injuries, said Capt.
