David Clark's film "Titans of the Ice Age" screens at the National Museum of Natural History on Thursday evening, March 21. It will be shown nationwide soon.
The 21st Environmental Film Festival takes place this month in Washington, DC, with 190 "diverse and arresting films" from 50 countries, according to the festival's website. One of those films—which screens at the National Museum of Natural History at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21—was directed by filmmaker David Clark of Chevy Chase. Clark's film—Titans of the Ice Age—is a three-dimensional film "set at the end of the last ice age (about 20,000 years ago) and realistically depicts creatures that lived during this time, including woolly mammoths, columbian mammoths, saber-toothed cats, dire wolves and giant ground sloths," Clark told Patch. Five films from local filmmakers will be screened March 23 as part of the inaugural Bethesda Film Fest.
Get your popcorn ready. Five documentary shorts have been selected to be screened as a part of the inaugural Bethesda Film Fest, organized by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District. The five films were chosen from submissions by filmmakers across the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC region. The selection panel included Angelica Das, associate director of the Center for Social Media at American University’s School of Communication; Imagination Stage director of digital media David Stern, and members of the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District Board of Directors. Films may be submitted for entry into the inaugural film fest until Jan. 4.
Filmmakers, rejoice! The deadline for submissions for the inaugural Bethesda Film Fest has been extended. Films may now be submitted until Jan. 4, 2013. The festival, organized by the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District, is slated for March 23 at Imagination Stage in downtown Bethesda. The event will spotlight the work of up to five local and regional documentary filmmakers. Filmmakers selected for the festival will see their work screened and will receive a $150 honorarium. The work of a young filmmaker under the age of 18 may also be chosen. Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC filmmakers are eligible to submit a 5- to 20-minute film on any topic, completed within the last two years. Filmmakers can apply by mailing a completed …

Equinox will offer dance workouts before the screening to mark the film's 25th anniversary.
Bethesda Row’s outdoor summer movie series wraps up Tuesday, but you may want to show up early to the screening of '80s classic "Dirty Dancing." To mark the film’s 25th anniversary, Equinox Fitness Club will host a 15-minute dance warm up on Bethesda Lane beginning at 8:15 p.m. If you’re in the mood for a longer workout, Equinox also is offering a free hour-long cardio dance class at their Elm Street location from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The screening of "Dirty Dancing" begins on the lane at dusk, around 8:45.
