Report: Giordano Sued Over Insurance Policy on Missing Woman

AMEX Assurance Company seeks to void Gary Giordano's $1.5 million accidental death or dismemberment coverage policy on Robyn Gardner, The Washington Examiner reports.

After filing suit in June to cash in on the insurance policy taken out on missing North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, Gary Giordano is being sued by his insurers, who hope to void the policy all together, The Washington Examiner reported. Giordano, of Gaithersburg, was held in Aruba last year in the disappearance of Gardner, his vacation partner. Shortly before the trip, Giordano purchased an insurance policy from AMEX Assurance Company, which included $1.5 million in accidental death or dismemberment coverage on Gardner's life, the Examiner reported. AMEX Assurance Company filed a lawsuit last week in Greenbelt, MD, hoping to void Giordano's policy, asking for "a declaration that no valid claim could be made for death benefits pertaining …

One Year Later, Robyn Gardner's Family Hopes For Answers

August 2 marks a year since North Bethesda resident Robyn Gardner disappeared while on vacation in Aruba. To mark the somber anniversary, family and friends held a vigil in her honor Tuesday, WJLA reported. Gardner, who maintained an apartment in Frederick but had been living with her boyfriend in Grosvenor, was traveling with Gaithersburg businessman Gary Giordano when she went missing. Giordano told Aruban authorities Gardner disappeared while the two were snorkeling. Giordano was held for more than 100 days in the disappearance, but was never charged. Gary Giordano, the Gaithersburg man held in Aruba last year in connection with the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, is suing to cash in on an insurance policy he took out on the missing North Bethesda woman, NBC Washington reports. Giordano is suing American Express for $3.5 million, according to the report. He argues in court papers that the company should pay the full death benefit because Gardner is presumed dead, NBC Washington reported. The same policy stirred suspicion in the aftermath of Gardner's disappearance. Giordano has maintained his innocence, telling officials in Aurba that Gardner disappeared while snorkeling. Aruba Suspect Charged with Indecent Exposure in Annapolis Garage

  A man suspected in the disappearance of a woman in Aruba was arrested for indecent exposure in Annapolis last week. At around 6 p.m. Friday, two bike patrol officers responded to a report of sexual activity in a vehicle at the Noah Hillman garage, police said. Upon approaching a black Cadillac Escalade, the officers discovered Gary Giordano, 51, of Gaithersburg and Carol Bock of Tennessee on top of a mattress inside the vehicle, according to a police report. One officer saw Bock lying on her left side with her left breast exposed and the other officer observed Giordano's genitals through the window as he was adjusting a towel around his midsection, the report states. I do not think this is a good indecent exposure case. They were in the back of an SUV They were in a parking garage. As concerns Ms. Bock, the police only saw her breast. A breast is not genitals, and breast exposure may not be encompassed by Maryland's Indecent Exposure Law. I would not have made this arrest.   more ›

Gary Giordano proclaimed his innocence in the disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner in a Thursday morning interview with Good Morning America, the AP reports. Giordano, of Gaitherburg, was realeased from an Aruban jail Tuesday after being held since August in connection with Garder's disappearance. He told authorities his 35-year-old traveling companion disappeared while on a snorkleing excursion. An Aruban appeals court upheld a ruling Wednesday that there's not enough evidence to continue detaining Giordano. Gary Giordano, the Gaithersburg businessman suspected in the disappearance of North Bethesda woman Robyn Gardner, was released from an Aruban jail Tuesday evening, according to a report by the AP and ABC7. Giordano, 50, has been held on the Dutch Caribbean island since August, when he told authorities that Gardner, his 35-year-old traveling companion, had disappeared while snorkeling. Giordano remains a suspect in the case and could be extradited if a judge rules he should be held longer, according to the report. He was expected to head back to Maryland Wednesday morning. Aruban Judge Orders Giordano Released Tuesday

An Aruban judge has ordered the Tuesday release of Gary Giordano, who has been held there since his arrest in connection with the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, the Gazette reported. Prosecutors are appealing the ruling and, if they are unsuccessful, Giordano will be released Tuesday from the Aruban jail at which he's been detained since Aug. 5. If the appeal is approved after Giordano returns to the U.S., prosecutors said they may be able to extradite him back to Aruba to face charges, according to the Gazette. Last month, Giordano's lawyer argued that he should be released because of a lack of evidence, but that request was denied. I can't believe that any legit insurance company would issue a policy to him since they had no relationship of any length. Most insurance companies won't even let you get a policy on a long time lover/partner! The partner can buy the policy and name you the beneficiary but otherwise they don't do it. Today Show Airs Surveillance Footage of Robyn Gardner In Aruba

North Bethesda woman has been missing in Aruba for over a month.

The Today Show aired new surveillance footage Monday of Robyn Gardner, the North Bethesda woman missing in Aruba. Gardner's traveling companion, Gary V. Giordano of Gaithersburg, is being held in connection with her disappearance. Giordano has told authorities Gardner was swept away while snorkeling, but people close to Gardner have riased doubts about his story. The surveillance footage shows Gardner, 35, and Giordano, 50, at a restaurant in Aruba just prior to her disappearance. It also shows Giordano after the time he said Gardner went missing, apparently looking for help.
