Katie Ledecky Takes Home Two Golden Goggles
Hometown swimming phenom won "Breakout Performance of the Year" and "Female Race of the Year" in swimming's version of the Academy Awards.
Bethesda's own gold medalist Katie Ledecky is a two-time winner in the "Golden Goggle" awards. Organized by the USA Swimming Foundation, the Golden Goggles—swimming's answer to the Academy Awards—honor the top performances in American swimming. At 15, Ledecky took gold during London's Summer Olympics in the women's 800m freestyle and broke an American record. Ledecky, who was the youngest member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, is a sophomore at the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Ledecky won for both "Breakout Performance of the Year" and "Female Race of the Year."
