PHOTOS: A Glimpse Inside Luke's Lobster

The Maine-style seafood eatery opened its doors on Bethesda Lane Thursday.

Have you stopped by Bethesda's new Luke's Lobster yet? If not, feast your eyes on the cool new design elements the seafood eatery is bringing to Bethesda Row. The restaurant was designed by Bethesda-based firm Streetsense, which converted the 388-square-foot space formerly occupied by chocolate shop Cacao into a "beach shack chic" casual carry-out shop complete with antique buoys and driftwood collected from New England shores. The transformation took about three months, with a goal of having the shop open in time for the summer season, according to a press release. As an Orthodox Jewish Boy raised in Boston, although surrounded by Lobster Eateries; I did not eat my first piece of Lobster until my early Thirties. I have been over-compensating ever since. Humbly I now know a good piece of "traif" Lobster when I taste it. I heartity recommend the Lobster Roll at Bethesda's LUKE"S LOBSTER. Although somewhat pricy at $15.00 (USD), it is such a bargain. Luke's Lobster To Open Thursday On Bethesda Lane

New England-themed eatery to take over space formerly occupied by Cacao.

Seafood restaurant Luke’s Lobster is set to debut on Bethesda Row Thursday, restaurant reps tell Patch. The restaurant chain, owned by Georgetown University grad and Maine native Luke Holden, 27, already boasts four shops in New York City and another in the Penn Quarter in downtown Washington, D.C. Bethesda friends of Holden's and patrons of the downtown eatery clamored for the Bethesda location, Patch reported in April. The restaurant will combine “the stylishness of Bethesda Row with the down home feel of the Maine Coast,” according to a press release, with design elements including driftwood and buoys from Holden’s Maine lobster boat. Plans Detailed For Bethesda Row Seafood Restaurant

Takeout restaurant slated for former Cacao space.

Luke’s Lobster will be moving into the former Cacao space at Bethesda Row by late May or early June, Ben Conniff, a spokesman for the company, confirmed over the weekend. News of the seafood restaurant's debut on Bethesda Lane was first reported by Bethesda Magazine. Owner Luke Holden, 27, graduated from Georgetown University and grew up in Maine, Bethesda Magazine reported. In a press release sent to Patch, Luke’s Lobster, which already has four shops in New York City and another in the Penn Quarter in downtown Washington, D.C., reported Holden's Bethesda friends and customers of its downtown spot clamored for the Bethesda location.
