Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Mark Uncapher responded to a protest of Mitt Romney by school bus drivers by asking if bus drivers were willing to accept responsibility for failing schools. Uncapher made the comments in the Sept. 1 issue of the county GOP’s newsletter. The “Chairman’s Message” focused on a Patch report about a protest on Thursday over comments made by the Republican presidential nominee about school bus drivers. O'Malley touts private sector growth; Montgomery County GOP chairman criticizes 'failed economic strategy.'
Gov. Martin O’Malley touted preliminary numbers released Friday that showed a net increase of 800 jobs in Maryland in July, while the chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party seized on the revised numbers for June that he said show the state’s job growth is not as robust as O’Malley predicted. The state’s unemployment rate increased one-tenth of 1 percent to 7 percent between June and July, according to the report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The number of unemployed Marylanders increased to 215,300 in July, up from 211,700 in June. The national average unemployment rate was 8.3 percent. Ddad99 is correct re: the unions. That's what they do. Manipulate members to enrich the pockets of the union leaders. Romney was simply making a point. When kids make the honor roll, it is the kids and parents of those kids who deserve credit.
