Bethesda, Medical Center Metro Stations To Close This Weekend

Free shuttle buses replace Metro trains between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove this weekend.

Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between the Friendship Heights and Grosvenor Metro stations from 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, through system closing on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Bethesda and Medical Center Metro stations will be closed. The weekend closures will "allow for rail renewal, fastener replacement, grout pad rehabilitation and leak mitigation," according to Metro's website. Red Line trains will operate in two segments throughout the weekend: between Shady Grove and Grosvenor, and between Friendship Heights and Glenmont. The trains will run every 10 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. At other times, trains will operate at regular weekend intervals, Metro reported on its website. What's Up With the Red Line: Weekend of April 15 through 18

A look at what you need to know about Metro this weekend.

Weekend-long repairs to the platform at the Whine Flint Metrorail station will lead to single-tracking trains between the Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook Metrorail stations. These changes will be effective from 10 p.m. on Friday, April 15, to closing on Sunday, April 17. Expect Red Line delays in both directions.
