The popular Westfield home goods store and cupcake shop have both closed their doors.
Two Westfield Montgomery Mall mainstays have closed their doors. Popular home goods store Crate and Barrel is now a vacant storefront at the Bethesda shopping hub. So, too, is sweets eatery YoCake in the mall's food court. Crate and Barrel, the furniture, kitchenware, and bedroom and bath accessories store that's become a wedding registry destination, has two other locations near Bethesda—in Tyson's Corner and in upper northwest Washington, DC. YoCake, which serves up cupcakes topped with frozen yogurt, has locations in Rockville and Dupont Circle. The shop also recently began offering the "yokie," a frozen yogurt cookie sandwich. Cocaine and marijuana were found on a man and a woman who were arrested after a traffic stop near the mall Dec. 4, police said.
Police say they found cocaine, marijuana and a prescription narcotic pill in the car of a man and woman they arrested after a traffic stop near the Westfield Montgomery Mall Dec. 4. Police say the arrests were made during a Police Community Action Team patrol, part of an effort to step up police presence in shopping areas around the holidays. Jonathan M. Logan, 21, of the 10700 block of Hollaway Drive in Upper Marlboro, and Czaryna Mortley, 21, of the 3600 block of Spring Hollow Lane in Frederick, are facing drug charges following the arrest. Logan is also facing credit card theft charges after police say they found a stolen credit card in his possession. According to police, the PCAT was making a holiday shopping patrol near the mall …

Ijamsville couple opens Doc Popcorn franchise with gourmet all-natural popcorn snack.
A new franchise popped up at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, and Doc Popcorn is letting mall shoppers in on a traditional movie theater treat. Its first Montgomery County Pop-Kiosk franchise, Doc Popcorn offers fresh-popped, all-natural flavored popcorn made in 100 percent corn oil. Gourmet flavors range from cheesy cheddar to sinfully cinnamon and hoppin Jalapeño. The husband and wife team of Bill and Kim Gaines opened up the location across from Benneton on the second level of the mall on November 15. It is just the second Doc Popcorn franchise in the state with another at the White Marsh Mall.
