Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Set For New Bethesda Office Space

The re-developed office building at 7550 Wisconsin Avenue marks Bethesda's first new commerical office property in more than ten years, according to developers.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set to mark the completion of a newly re-developed office building at 7550 Wisconsin Avenue. A "glass-breaking" ceremony in November of 2011 marked the launch of the project at the 120,000 square foot building, spearheaded by Akridge and Rockwood Capital, LLC. According to developers, the space is Bethesda's first new commerical office property in more than ten years. The building once housed offices of the National Institutes of Health. Developers are also aiming for LEED gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council, which rates environmentally-friendly structures. Sidewalk at 7550 Wisconsin Avenue to be Closed for a Year

Facade improvements on the the office building at 7550 Wisconsin will cause the sidewalks there to be closed for a year, according to Akridge Construction.

Akridge Construction is reporting that they will close the sidewalk down at 7550 Wisconsin in order to accomodate facade improvements of an office building. "For this work to be safely completed, it is necessary to close the sidewalk adjacent to the building during construction," wrote Akridge in a press release. The company said it is expected to complete the work in November of 2012. The travel lane, adjacent to the building, will be "intermittently" closed during non-rush hour periods so that the existing facade can be removed and new glass panels can be installed. The changes will give the office building an all-glass facade as opposed to the current cement and glass exterior. Akridge said signage will be posted to help pedestrians …

Redevelopment Launches At Downtown Bethesda Office Building

"Glass-breaking" ceremony marks the pending transformation of 7550 Wisconsin Avenue.

Developers, community members and local officials gathered Tuesday for a "glass-breaking" ceremony marking the pending redevelopment of the office building at 7550 Wisconsin Avenue. The project, spearheaded by Akridge and Rockwood Capital, LLC, will bring Class A office space to the 120,000 square-foot building with amenities including floor-to-ceiling glass, a green roof with entertainment space, ground floor retail and a fitness facility, according to a news release. Developers will also aim for LEED gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council, which rates environmentally-friendly structures.
