Playhouse Auction Nets $114K for Charity

After the playhouses in Friendship Heights were auctioned off last week, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County's funds had grown substantially.

After the eight little playhouses in the plaza of The Shops at Wisconsin Place in Friendship Heights were auctioned off last week, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County's funds had grown substantially. The playhouses that have been a part of the Friendship Heights landscape for the past month were auctioned off last week to raise money for Rebuilding Together, "a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to helping elderly and/or disabled low-income homeowners, and families with children through home renovation and repair," according to the organization's website. The playhouses sold for a total of $53,500. Additional funds raised at the May 31 auction brought the grand total to $114,000 for the organization. Get daily and breaking news …

Playhouses Bring Whimsey, Charity to Friendship Heights

The playhouses on display at The Shops at Wisconsin Place will be auctioned off on May 31 to raise money for Rebuilding Together Montgomery County.

A new village has cropped up in 20815—eight little playhouses are on temporary display at The Shops at Wisconsin Place. Each playhouse is different, and was designed by a local architectural or design-build firm. There's a fun fire engine, a lighthouse, a general store, a mini mansion, a cottage, a castle, a Chinese teahouse and a Mondrian-esque "Discovery Pod." On May 31 (from 7 to 9:30 p.m.), they'll all be auctioned off to support Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, "a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to helping elderly and/or disabled low-income homeowners, and families with children through home renovation and repair," according to the organization's website. Donating to The Walter Reed National Military Medical center playhouse would be a great idea! www.rebuilding-hope.org to help families as they come to visit parents who are in treatment at Walter Reed- fantastic!
