The mall has begun construction, according to a Facebook announcement.
Westfield Montgomery has released a video simulation of the ArcLight Cinemas and renovated food court planned for the mall. According to the Facebook page announcement, the mall is now under construction and a renovated dining terrace is expected by late fall 2013, followed by the opening of the 16-screen ArcLight Cinema in spring of 2014. The video "sneak peak" takes viewers through a simulation of the expanded seating and dining at the food court and the entrance to the cinemas, located on the second level above the eateries. Facade improvements on the the office building at 7550 Wisconsin will cause the sidewalks there to be closed for a year, according to Akridge Construction.
Akridge Construction is reporting that they will close the sidewalk down at 7550 Wisconsin in order to accomodate facade improvements of an office building. "For this work to be safely completed, it is necessary to close the sidewalk adjacent to the building during construction," wrote Akridge in a press release. The company said it is expected to complete the work in November of 2012. The travel lane, adjacent to the building, will be "intermittently" closed during non-rush hour periods so that the existing facade can be removed and new glass panels can be installed. The changes will give the office building an all-glass facade as opposed to the current cement and glass exterior. Akridge said signage will be posted to help pedestrians …

First branch to receive renovation in Montgomery County.
After weeks of construction, the McDonald’s on River Road isn’t the same red-roofed, white-walled staple of Bethesda. This branch of the popular fast food chain is the first in Montgomery County to receive a renovation that’s part of the company’s $1 billion nation-wide plan to modernize. “This design has certainly played a significant role in their continued business success,” owner Kathy Foster said. “Locally, we work to stay relevant to our customers. I noticed that there also were no kids, nor anyone older than 40. I think that they want to emphasize that this will be a very hip place to hang out. Bottom line, I am glad that there will be this improvement and I am looking forward to even more over the next several years.   more ›
