Concrete Used to Smash Window, Ransack Home

The tools of the burglary trade can be as simple as a piece of concrete.

A piece of concrete was used by someone to smash a rear basement window of a home in the 4200 block of East-West Highway, Chevy Chase, on Monday, May 13, according to Montgomery County police. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the home. As of Tuesday morning, it was unknown what—if anything—was taken, police said. The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., police said.

Residential Burglaries Hit Village Park Drive—Again

Two residential burglaries and an attempted theft from a vehicle were reported from Village Park Drive, Chevy Chase, in the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 4.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Jan. 28 and Feb. 5. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction. This is not the first time that Village Park Drive has been a target for crime. On or just before New Year's Eve, a suspect was captured on home surveillance video entering a vehicle at a Chevy Chase home in the Village Park Place/Village Park Drive neighborhood, Chevy Chase Patch reported. Suspects Caught Burglarizing Hunt Avenue House

The suspects were caught in the act of burglarizing the house by a resident awakened by the noise.

Two suspects burglarizing a Chevy Chase house Friday morning were caught in the act by a resident awakened by the sound of the burglars, according to an email alert from the Town of Somerset, which received the information from the Montgomery County Police Department. The burglary took place at about 8:42 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, in the 4600 block of Hunt Avenue, Chevy Chase, while the home's owner was gone for a brief time. The suspects—who wore dark hooded sweatshirts and dark stocking caps, according to the police—may have entered the home through its rear door.
