Two Virginia men were arrested and charged with a weapons offense, according to Montgomery County police.
Two Virginia men were arrested last month after police discovered a gun in their vehicle during a River Road traffic stop, according to a recent crime summary and a Montgomery County police spokeswoman. Montgomery County Police pulled over a vehicle in the 7500 block of River Road near the Capital Beltway around 5:15 p.m. March 20, according to the summary. The car was stopped after a traffic violation, but it wasn't known what the violation was, according to Angela Cruz, a police spokeswoman. A gun was found during a search of the car, Cruz said. A 25-year-old man from Purcellville, VA, and a 24-year-old man from Sterling, VA, were arrested and charged with a weapons offense, according to the summary.

The bus was not carrying children, according to rescue officials, but a woman in a passenger vehicle was seriously injured following the crash.
A three-vehicle accident involving a school bus left a woman seriously injured and closed Whittier Boulevard at River Road Wednesday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials. The school bus, which had been headed to Walt Whitman High School, was not carrying children, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Beth Anne Nesselt. Rescue officials responded to River Road and Whittier Boulevard around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Nesselt said. A woman, who needed to be extricated from her car suffered serious injuries, and was transported to the hospital in stable condition, Nesselt said. A Bethesda woman says police initially did not investigate the accident, though her son was injured. Police say the family didn't cooperate.
The mother of a 9-year-old boy who was hit by a car on River Road last week says a Montgomery County police officer failed to adequately investigate the incident and she will file a complaint. Police say the family would not speak to the officer at the scene. The boy’s mother, Marina Bowsher, told Patch that though her son was injured, an officer told her he couldn’t find evidence of an injury, didn’t file a police report and threw away his notes. Montgomery County police say the family declined medical treatment and didn’t allow them to speak with the boy at the scene, leaving them with no information to file a police report. Eight-year-old isn't injured, according to police.
An 8-year-old boy was struck by a car but uninjured last week in an accident on River Road in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County Police. Police responded to a report of a pedestrian accident around 8:32 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 11, according to police spokeswoman Officer Janelle Smith. The accident happened near River Road and Willard Avenue. The driver of the car that struck the boy stayed on the scene, Smith said.

Every time I have encountered the aftermath of an accident the police have been on the scene and were very thorough in their investigations of both parties involved. When I was personally involved a number of years back now Montgomery County police did an excellent job in fact gathering. I applaud the County police for their work!!!   more ›
