The accolades keep coming in for the Town of Somerset's new pool house.
The new pool house in the Town of Somerset is barely more than a year old, and it's already garnered a couple of awards. Most recently, pool house architects McInturff Architects received a 2012 Honor Award in design excellence from the American Institute of Architects, Potomac Valley Chapter, for the firm's pool house design, the December issue of the Somerset Town Journal reported. The award "was based on a decision made by jurors based in North Carolina," the Journal reported. "Proportionally this is very elegant. ... It has wonderful interiors. ... This was a significant transformation of the original facility. ... A very smart project. ... This is an example of how it requires more skill to do small projects," the jurors' comments …

Former Town of Somerset Council Member Alan Proctor was honored for his leadership in overseeing the renovations to the town pool and the construction of the town's new award-winning pool house.
Town of Somerset council members and residents honored former Council Member Alan Proctor Wednesday, Oct. 31, for his dedication to the town—in particular, for his leadership in overseeing the renovations to the town pool and the construction of the town's new pool house. Proctor and his wife Anne—both two-term veterans of the Town of Somerset Council—flew in from California to attend the dedication of a bench—at the entrance to the Somerset Town Pool's parking lot in Alan Proctor's honor. Alan Proctor was the pool project's main overseer, and worked with architects and construction engineers to complete the project. The new pool house received an Excellence in Design Honor Award from the Maryland Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Somerset Town Journal reported.
The Town of Somerset's new pool house—which opened last year after renovations to the original pool and pool house—isn't known just locally for its beautiful design. It's getting good reviews from Maryland Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as well. Last month, McInturff Architects, the pool house's designers, "reported that the Somerset Pool House was awarded an Excellence in Design Honor Award from the Maryland Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)," Town of Somerset Council Member Marnie Shaul reported in the October issue of the Somerset Town Journal.
