Where do Patch readers in the area go to celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
We asked Patch readers across the region to tell us about their favorite places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Here’s a look at some of the winners: In the poll that ran on Bethesda, Chevy Chase, North Potomac-Darnestown and Potomac Patches, a corner cupcake shop in Friendship Heights, Chevy Chase, beat out the bars as readers' favorite place to honor the holiday. The spring green-frosted, shamrock-topped cupcakes at Frosting, A Cupcakery, received 37 percent of the vote. Ri Ra Irish Pub in Bethesda came in second, with 22 percent of the vote. Patch readers chose the Friendship Heights cupcake shop as their favorite place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Bars and beers aren't the only way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the area. One can have a beer anytime, but a shamrock-topped, spring-green-frosted cupcake? Only in March, at Frosting, A Cupcakery. The Friendship Heights cupcake and coffee shop received 37 percent of the vote in the Readers' Choice poll for favorite places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Potomac and North Potomac-Darnestown area, while Ri Ra Irish Pub in Bethesda came in second, with 22 percent of the vote. Two Irish specialties for St. Patrick's Day.
This unusual combination certainly got your attention, didn’t it? For St. Patrick’s Day, we have a mix of traditional and fun. The corned beef is prepared in the slow cooker; the pudding shooters take just a few minutes. Slow-cooker Corned Beef 3 to 4 lb. corned beef and included spice packet 12 oz. Chevy Chase At Home, a social and helping-hand organization for senior citizens in Chevy Chase, celebrated one of Chevy Chase's first St. Patrick's Day celebrations of the year at a Meet and Mingle gathering at Chevy Chase Village Hall on Tuesday, March. 6. Ned Fenwick, a member of the Rockville High School Pipe Band, entertained the group on the Scottish bagpipes, and David Almy, a Chevy Chase native and graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, performed on the guitar, with Hal and Cheryl Gearhart singing. The program included a wide range of familiar tunes, including songs popularized by Dean Martin, songs by the Beach Boys and more.
