In honor of 12/12/12, Bethesda Row's Mussel Bar & Grille is hosting a toy drive for Hurricane Sandy relief. Those who drop off an unwrapped toy at the Bethesda Row eatery today will be rewarded with a free chocolate treat to mark National Cocoa Day -- triple chocolate gateau with Young's Chocolate Stout Creme Anglaise and vanilla ice cream. Mussel Bar owner Robert Wiedmaier will collect toys for children in New Jersey displaced by Hurricane Sandy on behalf of his employees at the Mussel Bar & Grille location in Atlantic City, NJ. Bethesda's Mussel Bar has changed its name after restaurant reps say it may have been keeping away diners who aren't fans of mussels, Bethesda Magazine's Table Talk blog reported. The new name -- "Mussel Bar & Grille" -- indicates the Bethesda Row eatery serves up more than mollusks and operates as a restaurant and not just a bar, according to the report. Though mussels are a draw, they make up only about six or seven of the approximately 30 menu items at the restaurant, Frank Shull, chief operating officer and partner in Robert Wiedmaier’s RW Restaurant Group, told Table Talk.
