ReplyMight I ad that Tiffany, is having a run on high quality diamonds, because couples from China, newly rich are willing to pay mark-up prices of 2,000% in China and 22 years ago, Tiffany was limiting 1 caret diamond purchases to 2 1caret diamonds. Most customers are coming from The Ritz Carlton, and other DC locations. I saw my Dentist in the store when checking out the silver collection, with a friend 2 years ago the solid silver 1 inch band was $230., she bought it.

ReplyNot much business, or clientel goes through those doors, like Tiffany's,or Saks.
I remember in the 70's never seeing anyone actually walking in those doors. However
when I went to Lord and Taylor,10 years ago Embassy Wife's,Doctors wife's, and well heeled couples from foreign destinations, they also would walk through Neiman Marcus.
I worked at Woodward and Lothrops,Chevy Chase and several times a month would have customers use their tax exempt cards, embassy people. No Tyson's Corner is where the 1% shop. Wouldn't you? -

ReplyFinally,
I have a prediction, we will be the next Vermont, due to all the laws passes here to support transgender, and gay couples. I have no hate for these people but in 10 years I would venture to say 20-35% of the MC population will be representative of these new folks. -

Let me throw in something about the Geniuses amongst us. I call them cons. Ed you are right about Wheaton. Bethesda Area, Hampden Lane Townhouses, pay zilch to live in the county and live in 1.6 million dollar homes, under nonprofits such as save the dogs. Then the file for Bankruptcy. I will give you citations, look up 500 Hampden Lane Bethesda. 2 years ago Chevy Chase,Glen Echo, and Potomac opted out of paying taxes, either by claiming business use of homes, or pooling tax breaks for energy upgrades. Now we have the grandparent dumping of New York City, and they get funded. It would be nice for those living and paying taxes here for 10,20,30,40,50 years to have access to what they and we paid for. Also, giving 18 and 20 year old kids from NY, affordable housing here in Bethesda is just wrong. What a racket. Some use our resources for what should be UMD on campus housing. The Ethics are scandalous. -

ReplyI feel preserving our veteran families, and the family unit should get their fair share of funding, as well as all marginalized groups. I am under 62 and disabled, so their is so little funding for my population, virtually none. I applaud any marginalized group getting help. Many poor and minorities, access educations and give their all, through pretty inhumane conditions in the countries the military serves in.We should not be petty and just think of our own situation.

ReplyOk, Pepco Installed smart meters to siphon off our residential electricity, for business use 6/14/2011, Hoc installed in 2005 7.7 heat pumps which are very outdated the norm is 10-12 srrrs much more efficient,Crooks. Why pay 66% more,HOC installed 0 energy rating windows in 2005.My electric bill $300 for a one bedroom apartment, very low use 70 degrees, outdated heat pump of 7.1 put in 2005. Last summer mandated energy reductions for 60 minutes on 30 minutes off. And I barely use heat or air $200.It is like a very bad Monopoly Game, with the electric company.Count your opinion out if you own stock in PEPCO, you are comprimized. Eco-fascism, Give us a break, humane beings, need heat and air to live. PEPCO has risen its rates 3 times in 18 months.
Actually seniors in Chevy Chase, are going with out heat and the walls and foundations are cracking. Food or heat? Well building owners good luck with the greed because, your buildings will become unsound. Building owners received hundreds of thousands of dollars to sign on for the smart meters. From PEPCO. The blood is on their hands. And now more increases hmmm.
