Thanks for the comment, but I think many of the city's residents would disagree with you. I'm talking about the fine folks who live in Georgetown - to Mt. Pleasant - to Capitol Hill East - to Anacostia. You're sadly mistaken if you believe there aren't DC dwellers who take pride in their closely-knit communities and want to see the younger generations lead healthier lives.

Where are the people to challenge? Challenge yourself. Take it upon yourself if you're a DC resident. That's the message. Remember, William Stanton, what is said about people who aren't part of the solution...

Alex, if the system is not working, you should say so on the ground with one clear, cohesive, unified message. This weekend's protest of a military drone exhibit at the Air and Space Museum is a perfect example of how the Occupy DC movement is not working.

Thanks for commenting, J825. Whether the FOP has valid arguments or not is irrelevant. Chief Lanier rules her department with an iron fist, and she'll continue to. Why? She produces, and the city's residents (and government officials) love her for it. Lanier will continue to get away with it, too... until she resigns. I'd love to hear what other readers have to say...

I just had a great conversation with Council member Tommy Wells about Mary Cheh, Kwame Brown and the state of DC politics. Look for more in my next piece... Thanks for all the comments guys - keep 'em coming!

Thanks, DC, for your comment and insight on Peaceoholics' performance through the years. Please also note, for future reference, my pieces that run on Sundays are not news articles. They're clearly labeled as opinion/editorial. Thanks for all of the comments everyone!

Various media outlets are reporting this morning that Mayor Vincent Gray and his campaign staff are being investigated by a grand jury... stay tuned.

Thanks for the comment, Lawrence. It was clear to me that neither Sulaimon nor the Council took the hearing seriously. All parties involved were in bad form. Until someone steps up and becomes a leader in this investigation, it's likely to be swept under the rug. It's a pretty sad showing of accountability on all fronts.

Thanks for the comments! We'd love to hear more from you, DC. I've also gotten some emails from readers, including from Ward 6 folks who are not happy, and who want to add more to the dialogue. I promise to get to all of them!

I wouldn't go so far to say Cheh and Gray are "buddy buddy." That being said, Council member Cheh is known to be a supporter of Gray's.

Seeing the MASSIVE gathering in front of the White House last night reminded me of just one of the reasons why I love this town...
